S.P.Y.C.E.
We are an Orthodox christian social youth group for children ages 7 years to 18 years. Our aim is to educate our youth about our faith and talk about other important issues concerning our youth. We play games perform role plays and go on many outings like the movies and indoor rock climbing. At present we have two groups, check the roster on this page and we hope you can come to any of our meetings.

2010 Roster for Group 1 (7 years – 12 years)
Friday 5 February: We will have a guest speaker talk about the exercise of prayer and how it benefits the soul. The group will improvise a role play on being kind. We will start making candles for our Easter fundraiser. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Friday 5 March: We will finish making candles. We will have a guest speaker talk about Holy Week, which is coming up. I will give you some tips about dealing with bullying. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Friday 30 April: We will be making gifts for the Mother's Day stall, and we will have a guest speaker talk to us about the exercise of being patient. Could everyone bring a board game please, so we can play all together. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Friday 28 May: There will be a fancy dress night; the theme will be a Disney character or super hero. We will be having a visitor come and teach us hip hop dancing, and there will be a cost involved for Hip Hop dancing. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Friday 18 June: We will have a guest speaker talk to us about our name days and Saint Paraskevi: Why they are special, and why do we celebrate them. Later, a talk about our Greek culture, and prepare what we will be selling at the panigiri of Saint Paraskevi. We will have a guest come and show us how to make icons. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Wednesday 7 July: It is School Holidays and both groups are invited to help clean the Church at 10am to prepare the Church for the Saint Paraskevi Feast Day coming up on 26/7/2010.
Thursday 15 July: School holiday outing to Blacktown bowling on Level 4 at WestPoint; we will meet at 11am and then we will start our game at 11:30am. Afterwards we will go to level 3 (food court) and have lunch together.
Friday 13 August: We will have a guest speaker talk to us about the Virgin Mary. You can bring in a musical instrument, or collection you have to share, and show to us all. The group will improvise a role play on how to show respect to elders. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Thursday 16 September: We will have a guest speaker explain part of the Liturgy: Holy Communion. We will talk about stranger danger. Could everyone bring board games. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Thursday 7 October: School holiday outing to Stanhope pools. We will meet at 10.30am.
Friday 12 November: Our annual Christmas party for both groups. We will meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
2010 Roster for Group 2 (13 years – 18 years)
Friday 19 February: We will have a guest speaker talk about the exercise of prayer and how it benefits the soul. The group will improvise a role play on bullying. We will start making candles for our Easter fundraiser. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Friday 19 March: We will have a guest speaker talking to us about Holy Week. We will talk about some adolescent issues. Could everyone please bring a board game to play all together. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Tuesday 13 April: School holidays. We will be having an evening outing. We will meet at 6.30pm in the foyer of Blacktown movies, see a movie, and afterwards go to Max Brenner for the best dessert.
Friday 16 April: We will have a guest speaker talk about patience. We will be making gifts for the Mother's Day stall. If you are musical, bring your musical instrument for show and play, or bring your favourite collection, if you don't play an instrument. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Friday 14 May: We will have a guest speaker explain part of the liturgy: when the priest walks around the the Church with the pre-sanctified gifts. We will have a Greek culture experience. We will have a guest come and show us how to make icons. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Friday 4 June: We will have a fancy dress up night; the theme will be famous film / T.V / music personality. We will have a visitor teaching us how to hip hop dance; there will a cost involved for the teacher. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Wednesday 7 July: It is School Holidays and both groups are invited to help clean the Church at 10am to prepare the Church for the Saint Paraskevi Feast Day coming up on 26/7/2010.
Friday 9 July: School holiday outing to Blacktown Indoor Rock Climbing. We will meet at 11am, and afterwards we will be having lunch at Subway.
Friday 6 August: We will have a guest speaker talk about the Virgin Mary. We will touch on some more adolescent issues. Could everyone please bring a board game we can play all together. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Friday 17 September: We will have a guest speaker talk about name days and Saint Paraskevi: Why are they special, why do we celebrate them. We will talk about self-esteem and being positive. Let's talk and have a Greek culture experience. We meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Thursday 7 October: School holiday outing to Hog's Breath restaurant at Blacktown on Level 4 around 6.30pm.
Friday 12 November: Our annual Christmas party for both groups. We will meet in the Church hall from 7pm to 9pm.
